This anime is about magical girls with nekomimi ears and tails and also, pantsu shot. The story consists over military girl squad called Strike Witches. Likewise, they can use magic and fly around like witches… unfortunately they do not use broom, instead they use strikers. The main character is Miyafuji, she is the daughter of a known researcher.
Miyafuji is a decent loli type A-cup girl whose motto was to help people. She dislikes war since her father died during service when she was 10. At least that is what she thought until she received a mail from his father contains picture of him with Major Sakamoto and strikers. Coincidently Sakamoto came to meet Miyafuji to enlist her as a strike witch the same day she received the letter. Miyafuji however decline the offer but decided to follow Sakamoto back to Britannia to investigate her father situation.
If you were to ask me, I’d say it was all schemed by Sakamoto. When Miyafuji decline the offer, she said that somehow Miyafuji would still be enlisted in the army. Moments later she received the letter.
When they were almost nearing Britannia, a Neuroi attacked them. Sakamoto couldn’t handle it alone since she is also defending about 5-6 military fleet that were totally rendered useless. Miyafuji then decided to equip striker and help Sakamoto. With her help, Sakamoto defeated Neuroi. Miyafuji then agreed to join the 501st Join Fighter Wing aka Strike Witches.
Just like Sakamoto planned.. She’s evil I tell you.
Miyafuji like any other cliché anime character whose not so intelligent nor useful but suddenly over talented, manage to flew using strikers and using gun without any prior training nor knowledge. Did I mention she hate war? Yet she use machine gun like professional.
The 501st Join Fighter Wing aka Strike Witches consist of 11 people. All of them only wore pantsu, pantyhose and sock. Most of them have C to F cup boobs. Have I mention that I hate 24/7 panty shot and boobies anime? I did didn’t I ? However I’m giving this one exclusion because the storyline aren’t that bad – the part where they flew and fight neuroi that is. And the shoujo-ai story..
Miyafuji is a sergeant and were given her uniform in 3rd episode, however she never wore it and kept wearing sailor seifuku. Quickly after joining Miyafuji became Sakamoto’s favorites and this displease Perrine. Perrine had a thing for Sakamoto so anything Miyafuji do, she will criticize her.
Flying officer Hartman, Lieutenant Barkhorn and Commander Minna is the 3 aces of Strike Witches. Lieutenant Barkhorn however acts coldly towards Miyafuji since she reminded her of her comatose sister.
She blames herself for the incident happened to her sister and since then acts coldly towards anyone. She later became fond of Miyafuji and tries to hide it from showing.
Commander Minna experiences the same thing as Barkhorn. She herself loses her boyfriend in the war and thus enacts a rule where no man is allowed to get closer with the witches. Chit chat with men is prohibited, shoujo-ai is ok tho.
Not much is known about Hartman other than she is lazy and has a very messy room. She once stole Francessca pantsu and cause strings of incidents. One day Hartman woke up and couldn’t find her pantsu. She then saw Francessca pantsu and stole it. Francessca, coming out from the public bath panicked that she couldn’t find her panty so she stole Perrines. Perrine who came out next, grab Miyafuji’s thinking that it was Sakamoto’s panty. They then found out that Francessca stole Perrine’s panty. Francessca then ran and stole Eila panty hose to use it as a slider. Eila then stole Sanya and join the other try to catch Francessca. Francessca were finally caught by Hartman and punished.. Along this episode Perrine and Miyafuji were both walking around half nude.
As for storyline goes aside from fighting Neuroi, what I wrote above seems to consist everything from siblings love, comedy, shoujo-ai and fan service.
I gave this anime 8/10 . Mostly because I like girls in military uniform.
Coincidentally after writing this, I happen to watch back Seitokai No Ichizou and notice they made a parody of this anime. Lol..
